Local context
The Shire gives us more room to work with than most of Sydney. Blocks are generally larger, driveways are wider, and front setbacks are deep enough that a full-width driveway gate makes visual sense rather than looking crowded. That is why double and sliding driveway gates are a bigger part of the work here than in the inner suburbs.
Two site conditions recur. Waterfront and near-waterfront streets around Port Hacking and Georges River carry salt exposure, which favours aluminium and more frequent washing down. And the bushland interface through the southern and western parts of the LGA means bush fire prone land is a genuine consideration on some properties — one to confirm with your certifier and council rather than assume either way.
Pools are very common across the Shire, and the same rule applies as everywhere: pool barriers carry specific legal requirements, and a decorative gate or fence should not be assumed to satisfy them.
