Aluminium Slat Gates & Fencing the Bayside area

Rockdale to Botany: flat blocks, exposed bay frontages and a lot of boundary fencing.

Local context

Working in Bayside

Bayside is mostly flat, which makes it one of the easier areas to fence well. Level runs divide cleanly into repeating panels, gates hang square and ground clearances stay consistent along the whole opening — the conditions a panel system is designed for.

The exception is exposure. Streets fronting Botany Bay get consistent wind off the water, and that changes how a tall or closely spaced fence should be built. Wind load rises sharply as slat gaps close up, so on an exposed boundary the choice between a tight slat spacing and a louvre profile is partly an engineering decision rather than purely a visual one.

The housing mix runs from original post-war brick through to a large volume of newer duplexes and townhouses, where matched front fencing and driveway gates across two dwellings is a frequent request.

What we are usually asked for here

  • Boundary fencing on level blocks
  • Duplex and townhouse front fencing and gates
  • Exposed bay-front boundary fencing
  • Driveway gates on standard suburban crossovers
  • Screening between adjoining dwellings

Site conditions worth planning for

  • Wind exposure near the bay affects panel and post sizing on tall or tightly spaced fences
  • Level ground suits repeating panel runs and keeps costs down
  • Duplex developments usually want both frontages set out as one

Styles that suit Bayside

Based on the housing, terrain and exposure described above — not a fixed rule, and every project gets specified on its own merits.

Questions

Bayside — questions we get asked

Does wind affect what fence I should choose?
Yes, more than most people expect. The tighter the slat spacing, the more wind the panel catches, and that flows through to post sizing and footings. On an exposed boundary a louvre panel often makes more sense than a very tightly spaced slat one — similar privacy, considerably less load.
