Delivery Information

Made-to-measure aluminium products are large, rigid and awkward to freight. That is the whole reason delivery is quoted per order rather than published as a flat rate.

What drives the cost

Four things that decide your freight

None of these are within our control, and all of them move the number. This is why a fixed delivery price would be either misleading or padded.

Product dimensions

A gate leaf is a large, rigid, awkward object. Length is usually what determines which freight services can carry it at all, and a leaf over a certain size moves into a different and more expensive category.

Quantity

Several panels travelling together are far more efficient per item than one. If you are ordering a gate and a run of fencing, ordering them together is normally cheaper to freight than ordering them separately.

Destination

Metropolitan addresses are straightforward. Regional and remote addresses cost more and take longer, and some are served only on particular days.

Access at delivery

Whether a truck can get to the address, whether there is somewhere to unload, and whether anyone is there to receive it all change what the delivery costs and whether it can happen at all.

On arrival

What to do when it turns up

Check the delivery against your order before the driver leaves, if the delivery method allows it. Count the items, and look over the visible surfaces for scuffs, dents or coating damage.

If something is wrong, photograph it there and then — before anything is unwrapped further, moved or leaned against a wall. Photographs taken at the point of delivery are the difference between a straightforward resolution and an argument about when the damage happened.

Then store it properly until installation. Keep panels flat or securely upright and off bare ground, out of the way of traffic, and covered if they are outside for any length of time. Powder-coated aluminium is durable in service but the finish can still be marked by being dragged across concrete.

Questions

Delivery questions

How much is delivery?
We confirm freight with your quote. We do not publish a figure because the honest range is too wide to be useful — a single pedestrian gate to a metro address and a full fencing run to a regional property are not comparable, and a flat rate would mean overcharging most customers to cover the rest.
How long will delivery take?
Manufacturing time and freight time are separate, and both depend on the job and the destination. You get a timeframe with your quote rather than a generic promise here. We are not going to publish a lead time we cannot hold to for every order.
Will someone need to be there to receive it?
Usually yes, and it is worth planning for. These are large items that generally cannot be left safely without someone present, and a failed delivery attempt normally means a re-delivery charge.
Do you deliver to builders and trade addresses?
Yes. Give us the delivery address and a contact for the site when you enquire, and tell us if there are restricted access hours.
What if something arrives damaged?
Inspect the delivery before the driver leaves where that is possible, and photograph anything that looks like transit damage immediately — before it is unwrapped further or moved. Contact us straight away with those photos. Damage reported promptly with evidence is far simpler to resolve than damage found weeks later.
