Frequently Asked Questions

The questions we are asked most often, answered properly — including the ones where the honest answer is that it depends on your site.

Pricing and quoting

How much do aluminium slat gates cost?
There is no single answer, and any site that gives you one is guessing. Price moves with the size of the opening, the style, how closely the slats are spaced, the height, the hardware, the colour, whether new posts are needed and whether we are installing it. Send the opening dimensions and what you have in mind and you will get a price for your project instead of a range that covers everyone.
Why is there no price list on this website?
Because nothing here exists as a stock item with a price attached. Every gate is fabricated for the opening it goes into. A published price would have to be either the cheapest possible configuration, which would mislead you, or padded to cover the most expensive, which would tell you nothing useful.
Is a quote free, and am I committing to anything?
Quotes are free and no obligation is created by asking for one. Nothing is manufactured and nothing is charged until you have agreed to a quote in writing.
How quickly will I hear back?
Enquiries are read and answered by a person rather than an autoresponder. If your enquiry includes measurements and a photograph, the reply is usually a quote; if it does not, the reply is usually the questions we need answered to produce one.

Products and styles

What is the difference between horizontal and vertical slat gates?
The same flat slat profile, oriented differently, and the difference is mostly visual and practical rather than structural. Horizontal slats make an opening read wider and lower and match most modern fencing. Vertical slats add apparent height, look more formal, and handle sloping ground much better because the panel can rake while every slat stays plumb.
What is a louvre gate?
A gate filled with angled blades rather than flat slats. The angle blocks the direct line of sight from footpath height while leaving a clear air path through the panel, so you get close to solid-gate privacy with a fraction of the wind load. Viewed square-on it looks solid; from the side it opens up.
Which style gives the most privacy?
Louvre, in most situations, because the blade angle screens the sightline without closing the panel. A tightly spaced horizontal or vertical slat panel can get close. Picket fencing is not a privacy product — the spacing is deliberately open.
Are the gates custom made?
Yes, all of them. There is no stock range. The frame is cut to your opening and the slat setout is calculated so the pattern finishes correctly at the top and bottom.
What colours are available?
Powder-coated finishes across the standard architectural range, including woodgrain looks and two-tone arrangements where the frame, posts and infill are different colours. The exact range available for your product is confirmed at quoting rather than listed here.
Can slat fencing be custom sized?
Yes. Panels can be made to bay widths that vary along a run, and runs can rake or step to follow sloping ground. That is normal work rather than a special request.

Supply, delivery and installation

Can aluminium slat gates be supplied Australia-wide?
Yes. Supply-only orders go to every state and territory. You provide the measurements, we build to them and the product is freighted to you for your own installer to fit.
Do you install slat gates in Sydney?
Yes — across the Sydney metropolitan area we measure, manufacture and install. Whether a specific job works depends on site access and what the gate is fixing to rather than on the suburb.
Do you install outside Sydney?
No. Outside the Sydney metropolitan area we supply only. We will not claim installation coverage we do not have.
How much is delivery?
Freight is confirmed with your quote. It depends on the size of the product, how many items there are, where it is going and what access is like at the delivery address — which is why a flat published rate would be wrong for most orders.
Can gates be automated?
Automation should be raised before manufacture, because it affects how the gate is built and what hardware is fitted. Even if you are not automating now, say so — building a gate that can accept a motor later is far simpler than retrofitting one that was not designed for it.

Materials, maintenance and warranty

How long do aluminium slat gates last?
Aluminium does not rust, which removes the failure mode that ends most steel gates. What determines the practical life of the product is the powder-coated finish and the environment it lives in — a gate near surf is in a much harsher place than one in a sheltered backyard. Basic maintenance makes a real difference, and it is simply washing the product down.
How do I maintain aluminium slat fencing?
Wash it down periodically with clean water and a mild detergent, and do it more often in coastal or industrial areas. Salt and grime sitting on a coated surface is what shortens its life. Avoid abrasive cleaners and solvents. Nothing more elaborate is needed.
Aluminium or steel — which is better for a gate?
For most residential gates, aluminium. It does not rust, and it is much lighter, which means less load on hinges and posts and less sag over time. Steel is harder and resists denting better, so where impact is the main risk it has an argument. But rust is what ends gates, and aluminium does not do it.
What warranty applies?
Materials and workmanship are covered by the consumer guarantees under Australian Consumer Law. Ask us about the cover that applies to your product before you order.
