Aluminium Vertical Slat Sliding Gates

This is the configuration for an entry that has neither swing room nor level ground — the two problems that most often rule out a swing gate. The leaf runs sideways across the opening, so ground fall stops being a constraint on how low the gate can be built, and the vertical slats keep the formal look that a sloping site would otherwise force you to give up.

Visually, a vertical sliding gate behaves differently to a horizontal one. The upright slats pass the fixed edge of the opening in sequence as the gate travels, which makes the movement more obvious. Some people like that; if you want the gate to disappear when open, horizontal slats read quieter.

The run-back rule still applies and still comes first. You need clear space beside the opening roughly as wide as the opening, free of obstructions for the whole travel. Check it before anything else — no amount of good detailing works around it.
