Horizontal Slat
Aluminium Horizontal Slat Single Gates
One leaf, hung on hinges, with flat aluminium slats running the width of the gate. The workhorse of side access — built to your opening rather than cut down from a stock size.
Custom-made to your opening · Supplied Australia-wide · Installed across Sydney
A woodgrain horizontal slat sliding gate. The leaf runs sideways along the boundary instead of swinging, so no arc has to be kept clear inside the driveway.
Horizontal Slat Gates
One leaf that runs sideways instead of swinging. The answer when the driveway starts at the property line or a car parks right behind the gate.

The detail
A sliding gate solves a specific problem: there is no room for a leaf to swing. That happens more often than people expect — a driveway that begins at the boundary, a short apron with a car parked close behind, or an entry that rises steeply enough that a swing gate would foul the ground before it opened.
Horizontal slats suit sliding gates particularly well, because the slat lines run in the same direction the gate travels. The panel reads as one continuous horizontal band whether it is open or closed, and the leading edge does not chop the pattern the way a vertical arrangement can.
The constraint to check before anything else is run-back. The gate has to go somewhere when it opens, and that means clear space beside the opening roughly as wide as the opening itself, kept free of garden beds, meter boxes, downpipes and parked cars. Measure it before you enquire — it is the one dimension that decides whether a sliding gate is possible at all.
Sliding gates are also the configuration most often automated, and it is worth deciding early. Motor selection, the guide arrangement, where power comes from and what safety devices are fitted all interact with how the gate is built, so a gate made with automation in mind is a better gate than one adapted for it afterwards.
